Synopsis
In celebration of the long-standing success of the series, all four Books of Ember will be repackaged with an exciting new look perfect for middle grade readers.
Since 2003, readers of all ages have been captivated by the story of a doomed city and the two kids determined to escape it. In this prequel, we get the story of Nickie, the daughter of one of the Builders of the city of Ember and, much later, one of its first citizens. Here Nickie is an eleven-year-old girl journeying to Yonwood, North Carolina, a town full of suspicion and mistrust. One of the citizens has had a vision of fire and destruction, but her prophesies are unclear and turning the town against itself. Nickie and her new friend Grover investigate what's happening and discover that peer pressure is a dangerous thing and hope can be found in the strangest of places.
