Fighter Command: IWM Photography Collection

IWM holds approximately 11 million photographs in its archives, covering the causes, course and consequences of modern conflict from the First World War to the present day.

Drawing on this unique collection, Fighter Command showcases 50 photographs of the iconic aircraft and crew behind Britain's spirited fighting force. These vibrant images traces the development of Fighter Command from its inception and growth in the 1930s as war clouds gathered over Europe, to the dawn of the supersonic age in the early years of the Cold War.
